Cookie dough, made safe for eating! With heat-treated flour and no eggs, this edible cookie dough for 1 recipe is perfect for snacking on.

Recipe for Edible Cookie Dough
Developing cookie recipes has been my full time job for 7 years and my passion for many more. But would you believe that I don’t eat raw cookie dough? I know, I know, it’s shocking.
But all that really means is that I’ve spent many years working on the perfect recipe for edible cookie dough. And after many iterations, I’ve created an eggless, completely safe to eat cookie dough that tastes just as good as the real thing! This is that recipe, just paired down to be single-serving, so you can treat yourself whenever you’d like.
There are four main things you need to know about this recipe for edible cookie dough.
- It is completely safe to eat! There are ZERO eggs and no raw flour, so it’s essentially CDC approved.
- It is super easy to make. Like the ‘your kid can whip this up’ kind of easy.
- This cookie dough recipe makes the perfect amount for one person. Enough to satisfy the craving without being too much. And bonus, if you’re feeling charitable and want to share, this recipe doubles so well!
- Most importantly, IT IS SO DELICIOUS.

Ingredients in Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
You’ll find the ingredients for this single-serving cookie dough to be very similar to your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe (just without the eggs + heat-treated flour!).
- Softened Butter – You’ll want to make sure your butter is room temperature. This helps it mix well with the sugars.
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar – Brown sugar is what gives the cookie dough the perfect caramel-y cookie flavor.
- Milk – Using a tiny bit of milk compensates for the liquid we lose by not including eggs in the dough. Dairy-free milk alternatives will work as well.
- Vanilla – This really brings the cookie dough together (from a flavor & texture standpoint).
- All-Purpose Flour – We will heat-treat this flour so it is safe to eat!
- Salt
- Mini Chocolate Chips- I like to use mini chocolate chips in this cookie dough recipe for 1. It helps you get a bit of chocolate in every bite! But feel free to sub your favorite chocolate chips, if desired.

How to Make Edible Cookie Dough for One
- Start by heat-treating the flour. You will do this by pouring the flour into a bowl and popping it into the microwave for 30 seconds.
- While the flour is being treated, add the softened butter and sugars to a separate bowl and mix with a fork until it is light and fluffy. Stir in the milk and vanilla and continue to mix.
- Add the heat-treated flour and a pinch of salt to the mixture and fold until well combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and ENJOY YOUR COOKIE DOUGH!
How to Store Leftover Cookie Dough
Store any leftover cookie dough in the fridge for up to 5 days! Just pull it out of the fridge 5-10 minutes before eating to allow it to get soft again.
You can also freeze this dough – place in an airtight container or baggie and freeze for up to a month.
Can the eggless cookie dough be baked?
No, no, no. (I know some will still be tempted to try, but trust me.) This recipe has zero leavening agents which means it will not bake, it will just spread and be a mess.

Hi Karli!
Is this a cookie dough bites recipe that I could use on top of your cookie dough bites cookie recipe? I hope that made sense!
Yes! That would work great.
I will admit, I’m not scared to eat regular cookie dough, and I regularly sneak bites when I’m making a batch of cookies! But sometimes I just want the dough and don’t even care to have the cookies. I found this recipe and made it when a craving hit… so good and would highly recommend! 🙂
I never ever comment on anything but this recipe was amazing!!! I’ve tried so many “cookie for one” recipes and they were all horrible. This was so fluffy & yummy. I’m hooked!
So good! Tastes just like regular dough & the perfect amount for one person 🙂
Thank you for always sharing your recipes! I just ordered both of your cookbooks and I just can’t wait until I get them. I hope that I actually use them and not just look at the pictures, lol
