  1. I love mug cakes because of the portion control, but I never knew you could make a mug cake with just cake mix and water. I am super excited to try this now. Thank you, Karli!

I was in no mood to make a whole cake and wait 45 mins to bake and 30 mins to cool. I had a box of pillsbury Funfetti cake already. I took out my favorite mug put three extra large spoonful of cake mix, two extra large spoonful of water. Whipped all ingredients with a fork. Put the mug in the microwave for 1:30 mins. I crossed my fingers and out came this amazing fluff of cake with perfect texture and no wet spots. Thank you for sharing

I don’t think I have ever commented on a recipe but had to on this. Wow! I cannot believe this worked! I bake alot but was craving something quick tonight that wasn’t too awful for me and I saw this. I have done mug cakes before but never really liked them much but this one blew me away. Seriously.. cake mix and just water?? lol. I used a spice cake mix and diced a little apple in there and it is ridiculously good! Thank you for sharing this!

  3. I am about to do this recipe with my students. I have a regular funfetti box. Will it turn out ok even though the box calls for oil and eggs too.. this recipe only asks for water.
    Thanks

I really love the idea of making a single serving of cake in the microwave. So moist and delicious. We don’t have a stove right now and this recipe turned out great. I made Betty Crocker Delights Party Rainbow Chip and iced it with Betty Crocker’s Rainbow Chip Frosting Frosting. Will try other flavors in the future. May even try it with a Brownie Mix.

I used yellow cake mix and added a few raspberries and blueberries. It “baked” perfectly and tasted great – all with no oil or butter! This is such a find that I had to comment:) Thank you!

I am blown away by how well this works!! I added a tablespoon of butter the second time. It made the cake a bit richer but it’s not necessary. I hate eggs They ruin mug cakes if you ask me. Thank you so much!!!

Perfect!! This really satisfied our cupcake craving without making a whole batch and a mess. I made enough buttercream frosting for two mug cakes (2 tblsp butter 6 tablespoons powdered sugar, two drops vanilla) thanks so much for this recipe!!
