What’s in Funfetti Mug Cakes?

  • Cake Mix
  • Water

The ratio you’ll want is 2:3, water:cake mix.

How to Make Funfetti Mug Cakes in the Microwave

Measure out all of the ingredients and add them to your microwave-safe mug. Mix well. I like to add a few extra sprinkles on top because there are never enough sprinkles. 😉

Place your mug into the microwave and bake for about 1.5 minutes. Open microwave, remove mug and give it a moment to cool before enjoying. Psst. add frosting on top for an even more magical experience. 😉

Can I make other favored mug cakes?

Yes, mug cakes come in all sorts of different varieties. Use your favorite box cake mix to make a cake you enjoy!

Can I add other ingredients to this mug cake?

Adding chocolate chips, or more sprinkles while it’s baking could be a delicious idea. Adding a nice powdered sugar glaze to the top of the mug cake after its done baking could help it to feel more complete like a real cake.

Got creative with bits of this and that left from holiday baking —
    Lemon cake mix
    Pumpkin spice coffee creamer
A couple of pecan and walnut halves
Dried cranberries, a few raisins, a chopped date, and a little shredded coconut.
Topped with a bit of canned cream cheese frosting.
OMG, it was a party in my tongue!

Our landlord replaced a faulty microwave oven and as thanks we made mug cakes for their family using extra mugs we had and Duncan Hines Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix. Delivered it with whipping cream shaken in a jar. Hubby taste tested this combo and gave it an ‘A’.

First, your description of almost-bedtime sweets craving was spot-on for my life. Second, I used a spice cake mix, half-and-half instead of water, and a little pumpkin pie spice. While it microwaved, I made a glaze out of a tablespoon of powdered sugar and a little water. THE HARDEST PART WAS WAITING FOR IT TO COOL SLIGHTLY!! So, so good! And now I don’t have a whole cake staring me in the face while I try to get back on my diet tomorrow! Thank you so much!! <3

I’ll look forward to seeing this one! I get a lot of use out of these quick recipes because standing too long makes my legs hurt extra. (I have a bone disease and severe neuropathy from steroids and chemo, respectively) Being able to make something to eat in just a few minutes is so great! Thank you!!!

I want to make cake pops with my young niece and nephew, 2 and 6 respectively. I want to slowly teach them to bake. Can this recipe be used in a cake pop maker? I’m lokking to start slowly and not have to have them measure lots of ingredients.

If I were to add mini m&ms, or sprinkles does that change the cooking time?

It’s way better than any mug cake I made before! Way less spongy than regular mug cake, not 100 percent like real cake but with some icing on top I could barely tell a difference (: so happy I found this!! Didn’t want to make the whole box of cake mix so this helped my late night craving lol. So simple and delicious!

I love mug cakes because of the portion control, but I never knew you could make a mug cake with just cake mix and water. I am super excited to try this now. Thank you, Karli!

I was in no mood to make a whole cake and wait 45 mins to bake and 30 mins to cool. I had a box of pillsbury Funfetti cake already. I took out my favorite mug put three extra large spoonful of cake mix, two extra large spoonful of water. Whipped all ingredients with a fork. Put the mug in the microwave for 1:30 mins. I crossed my fingers and out came this amazing fluff of cake with perfect texture and no wet spots. Thank you for sharing
