Yes, the cake is fully cooked and becomes hot enough to bake just as you would in the oven, just in a smaller portion!!

Why are Mug Cakes Mushy?

This mug cake should not be mushy, if it is, it hasn’t been cooked long enough.

Can I use milk instead of water for my mug cake?

Sure- that shouldn’t change anything but make the cake taste more rich!

I did this but added in some instant espresso and used a mix of liquid creamer and milk instead of water. Not disappointed. 😊

So it doesn’t need oil or egg? Fantastic idea, but am afraid to try. Hate to waste if it doesn’t work.

I made this last night for my husband and I. I did a slightly larger mix, used a larger mug, and microwaved for 2 minutes. 2 spoons, 1 mug cake! I was blown away how moist the cake was! What a fun treat!

I had doubts, but this mug cake was delicious! We made some icing separately and put it on the mug cake, and there was no way I could tell the difference between that and cupcakes I’ve made before with the same cake mix.

Thanks for posting. I used what I had on hand 4 tbs white cake mix, toasted pecans, 4 tbs unsweetened vanilla almond milk and added a touch of dark maple syrup….140 seconds…it was great. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing this. After two failed cake orders, and with a fussy baby, this recipe saved the (birth)day. I can’t believe it worked. I tripled the recipe and I’m at about 5000 feet elevation so I threw in an extra tablespoon of flour and water. Thanks again!

Got creative with bits of this and that left from holiday baking —
    Lemon cake mix
    Pumpkin spice coffee creamer
A couple of pecan and walnut halves
Dried cranberries, a few raisins, a chopped date, and a little shredded coconut.
Topped with a bit of canned cream cheese frosting.
OMG, it was a party in my tongue!
