Chocolate and Peanut Butter; Match Made in Heaven!
I have a think for chocolate and peanut butter. Reese’s, peanut butter scooped up by Oreo’s, chocolate chip peanut butter cookies… I’ll take them all, all day long.
The slight saltiness of the peanut butter pairs so well with creamy, sweet chocolate. These Chex Bars, though, cross all the lines in the best way possible.
LOADED Chex Cereal Bars
Nothing is left out or forgotten, I am a big fan of including every one (everything!).
There is a hidden layer of lightly salted peanuts that covers the bottom of the bars. It’s a fun little surprise, and who doesn’t like surprises?
On top of the peanut layer we have our Chocolate Peanut Butter & Chex layer. To create this layer, corn syrup and sugar are brought to a boil on the stove top. Vanilla and Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread are melted in.
Pour the saucepan over a large bowl filled with Chex cereal. Quickly stir to coat. Pour directly over the peanut lined pan and press into place.
Drizzle with some melted peanut butter and then top with chopped up Reese’s Cups.
The very hardest part is waiting for the bars to cool. While you are waiting, I give you full permission to lick the spoon.. and bowl.
