Caramel Apple Salad is the best Dessert Salad

Dessert salads, they are a thing. Did you know that? Even better than that, they are TO. DIE. FOR.

I mean, I am always down to eat something that is considered a salad, yet tastes like you are eating dessert. Plus, you can totally get away with serving this as a salad (it is even in it’s name!) to go along with dinner.

Then you get to have dessert after since, ya know, you were eating a salad. ?

Plus there are loads of apples in the salad, so fruit?.. check. Is fruit healthy? Yes, therefore so is this salad?

My view might be a little skewed, but I give you full permission to go crazy with this salad. #yourewelcome

Making the Caramel Apple Salad

To make this salad you’ll only need 6 ingredients! This salad comes together very quickly too, which is always nice. I always seem to be running out of time with everything I do.

First, cream cheese and brown sugar are whipped together in a stand mixer or using electric beaters. Give this combo a little taste, tastes just like caramel!!

Then Cool Whip is folded into the cream cheese mixture. I say folded, but I’ve tossed it into the stand mixer and turned it on slowly to combine before too, still turns out great.

Now, all that needs to be done is a lot of chopping. Roughly chop the apples to start. I like to use Granny Smith apples because they are crisp and TART! The tartness of the apple really pairs well with the sweetness of the Cool Whip.

I love the addition of a candy bar in this salad. The candy bar can really be any that you’d like, I like Milky Ways though.

You could definitely use Snickers, Twix, or even Rolos would be fun! The key is to get some chocolate and some caramel in the candy bar.

Milky Way just happens to be my favorite candy bar (you know, my birthday is in a few months… ?) so that is what I went with in this salad.

After the candy bar of choice is chopped up into small pieces, it’s time to toss everything together!

After the apples and candy bar have been covered with the dreamy cool whip mixture, it is time to get your caramel on!

I put a few tbsp of caramel into a plastic baggie, snip the corner and then use that to drizzle the caramel with. You can opt to just put the caramel on top as a garnish, or you can put it throughout.

If you want it throughout, place a small amount of salad into the serving and drizzle the caramel on top. place a little more salad into the serving bowl and then drizzle the caramel again. Repeat until all of the salad is in the serving bowl.
