Double Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe- Easy, Tasty & Moist!
I know some of you are thinking it. I used the ‘M’ word. You know, it starts with an ‘M’ and ends with ‘oist’..? ?
Well, there just isn’t any other way to describe this bread! Believe me, I even googled a thesaurus.
This bread definitely is that but it is so easy too!
I made this loaf practically one handed! All thanks to a super tired & teething baby who was my arm candy all day long.
I saw a funny meme on facebook a few weeks back that said ‘On average I spend about $88 per year to watch bananas turn brown’.
Pretty sure I laughed out loud when I read that! I know I’ve been there, and I am fairly certain everyone has been there are one point or another.
Great news, print out this recipe and keep it in your back pocket for the next time your banana turn brown, you will not be disappointed!
Easy Quick Bread is perfect for Brunch!
I love adding this to a special breakfast or brunch menu. Pssst pro tip: use this batter to make muffins!!
This Chocolate Banana Bread served alongside some Instant Pot Hard boiled eggs, Pancake Mix Crepes (say, whaaat? I KNOW!) and a fruit smoothie are just ingredient for a good time.
How to Make Chocolate Banana Bread
For starters, you’ll need 2 over ripe bananas. You know, the scary ones that sit on your counter that you keep feeling guilty about just tossing them? Grab those ones. ?
Mash the two bananas, I like to use my electric hand mixer for ease.
Once the bananas are thoroughly mashed, no chunks! Add in some melted butter, sugar and an egg.
Mix until completely smooth.
Add in the cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt.
Again, using the electric mixer, combine all of the ingredients.
Make sure to use a low speed setting at first to avoid a large cloud of flour and cocoa powder. I may or may not be speaking from experience here. Just trust me. ?
The batter will be extremely thick once all of the flour and cocoa have been mixed in.
Add in some milk and, again, slowly mix the batter together until it is smooth and velvety.
The batter will still be thick, but easy to stir, scoop and spread.
Fold in some of your favorite chocolate chips..
Pour into a greased loaf pan and spread evenly. Top with more chocolate chips for good measure.
I poured all of the batter into my 9×5 inch loaf pan. If you have smaller loaf pans, you’ll be able to make 2 loafs of banana bread out of this recipe.
Bake In the oven at 375° for 45 minutes. If you are using smaller pans, this will adjust your cook time.
I would start with 20 minutes and then check every 5-10 minutes after that.
It is important to note that because of the chocolate chips throughout the banana bread, the toothpick test is a little tricky since the toothpick won’t ever come out completely clean. Once the toothpick comes out mostly clean, you are good to take the bread out of the oven.
Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing.
