Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs- you’ll never make them any other way again! It’s as easy as 5-5-5. Five minutes High pressure, five minute Natural Pressure Release (NPR), five minute ice bath for perfect eggs that peel like a dream!
Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs are so easy, my 4 year old could do it. (In fact, he did today!) We were getting all ready to dye some eggs for Easter, so we threw a dozen eggs into the Instant Pot. The results were magical. The centers were perfectly soft, not dry at all. And the peels! I actually peeled an egg one handed! That is how easy they are to peel.
First, 1 cup of water goes into the Instant Pot. Place the trivet (The metal stand thing that came with your Instant Pot!) inside the pot. Gently place the eggs on the trivet. You can stack them, just put them however they’ll fit inside. Lock the lid and turn the knob to sealing. Press the Manual button (or Pressure Cook if you don’t have a Manual button!) and use the arrows to set the time for 5 minutes. If your Instant Pot has the option of switching between LOW pressure and HIGH pressure, make sure that the Instant Pot is set to HIGH.
Once the timer goes off, allow for a 5 minute NPR, or Natural Pressure Release. This means, leaving the Instant Pot alone for 5 minutes. You’ll notice that your Instant Pot will switch to keep warm and start a timer counting up. Once the display reads L00:05 (aka, it has been 5 minutes since the timer went off) it is time to Quick Release (QR) the pressure. This is done by flipping the knob on top to vent. Do this carefully as hot steam will shoot out of the Instant Pot.. you can use the end of a spoon if you want!
Next, carefully transfer the eggs one by one to an ice bath. Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for 5 minutes. Then they are ready to refrigerate or peel! And these peel like a dream!!

Thank you for this! I still haven’t tried to do hard boiled eggs in my cooker yet, but I am so tired of my eggs not peeling cleanly when I make deviled eggs! I will definitely try this method next time I need to bring a batch of them to a dinner. Thanks again!

Every year I think this is the year that I can offer to bring deviled eggs… then … it always ends the same, shell cut fingers, mascaraed whites that get ripped off with the shell, nothing left to hold the yellow heavenly goodness..and embarrassment! This recipe with the great cook times and tips has me feeling like I am the next Julia Childs!!! Save This Recipe!!
