Recipe for Peach Cobbler

Does it come off too strongly for me to say I love this easy peach cobbler recipe? I could literally write sonnets about the way the tender, crumbly, buttery cake melds with delicious fresh peaches and caramelised juices. And then if you serve it a la mode?? I can’t even describe.

If you’re going to try one recipe this summer/fall, please PLEASE make it this homemade peach cobbler. It’s ultra easy and the finished product is something you will be dreaming about long after the peaches are all off of the trees. But don’t worry, you can make it with canned peaches too and eat this year round.

What Ingredients are in Homemade Peach Cobbler?

  • Peeled and sliced peaches – While I prefer fresh peaches, you can also used canned peaches here.
  • Sugar
  • Butter – I like to use salted butter.
  • Egg
  • Buttermilk – You can sub regular milk for the buttermilk, if needed. The buttermilk just makes the cake layer so unbelievably tender that I think it’s worth it.
  • All purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Vanilla  – The vanilla really brings out the natural flavor of the peach SO well.

How to Make Peach Cobbler

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Place the butter into a 2 quart (like a 9×9 pan) baking dish and place in the oven while the oven preheats.
  3. Peel and slice your peaches and place in a bowl. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of granulated sugar on top of the peaches and stir to coat. Set aside.
  4. Once the butter has melted, remove the dish from the oven and add the remaining 3/4 cup granulated sugar, stirring until well combined.
  5. Add the egg, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir until combined.
  6. Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir until a thick batter comes together.
  7. Pour the peaches onto the top of the batter. Spread to cover the dish evenly.
  8. Bake at 350° F for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out of the center mostly clean.
  9. Serve warm with ice cream. Enjoy!

Can I substitute other fruits for peaches in the cobbler recipe?

You sure can! I also love a good blueberry, cherry, or blackberry cobbler!

How do I store leftover peach cobbler?

Once cooled, store in an airtight container (or just cover the pan) and place in the refrigerator for up to 3 days! When you’re ready to serve, I recommend warming it in the microwave for ultimate deliciousness.
