Oreo Frosting AKA Cookies and Cream Frosting
I wasn’t a huge Oreo fan until I got married. Cookies and Cream anything (or blue raspberry!) will make my husband a happy camper. Ice cream, shakes, the candy bar.. you name it, he LOVES it.
As I was brainstorming one day about a cake I needed to take to a fundraiser auction, a fully loaded Oreo cake came to my mind.
What is an Oreo cake without a Cookies and Cream Frosting though?
So I whipped out my secret stash of Oreos and went to work. ?
How to Make Oreo Frosting
Oreo Frosting can be whipped together in no time! The base of this frosting is made from my basic vanilla buttercream, AKA the buttercream I always frost everything (especially my sugar cookies) with.
Let’s start with the Oreos. (I mean, it would just be rude not to start with them, right?)
If you are wanting to be able to have a smooth frosting, that you can get a seamless finish or to pipe with, you will want Oreo crumbs. Put those puppies in the blender or food processor and go until you have almost an Oreo powder.
I personally like mine a little chunky. I throw mine in the blender and pulse it until I have mostly crushed Oreos with a few larger pieces. This is great for a rustic looking frosting. No stress, no fuss- my kind of frosting!
Butter, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla and the crushed Oreos are whipped together using either a stand mixer or a hand mixer.
It really is as easy as measuring everything, turning the stand mixer on and walking away for a few minutes. You’ll come back to the most delicious, spoonful-worthy frosting you’ve ever made.

Do you have too scrape the cream out of the Oreos first or keep the cream too
karlibitner says
You’ll leave the cream inside of the Oreos. 🙂

my frosting is thinner than I expected
Karli Bitner says
You can add extra powdered sugar to thicken it up if needed. 🙂
