Holiday punch recipe, poured in a glass

Holiday Punch

The holidays are already pretty hectic and expensive. Trying to find the perfect gifts, food dishes, and creating a master plan for optimizing our time in the kitchen and getting ready before everybody shows up to dinner. Stop stressing about what drink to serve, I’ve got your back!

Growing up, we’d drink water with every meal except for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. We’d bust out the super fancy plastic Champaign Glasses 😉 and make up this punch. As a child, it felt so FANCY. Every time I drink it, it brings back so many memories.

Moral of the story: Make this Holiday Punch a tradition and taste the memories! 😉

What are the ingredients for Non-Alcoholic Holiday Punch?

  • Lemon-Lime Soda
  • Cranberry juice
  • Lime juice
  • Ice
  • And maybe some limes and cranberries for garnish

I am going to be very honest here. For the Lemon-Lime Soda, I generally use the store brand because I am cheap  THRIFTY. 😉 Any brand will do, that’s what I’m trying to get at here. 🙂

How to make this holiday punch

In a large punch bowl, combine the cranberry juice, lime juice, and sprite until mixed. Add in the ice. If you’d like to throw a few whole cranberries or lime slices into the punch for looks, go right ahead! This is an optional thing, but it really does help the drink to look “extra” fancy.

I suggest using cold liquid from the get go that way the ice doesn’t water it down while cooling the already warm liquid.

Do I have to use Lemon-Lime Soda?

Ginger-ale is a great alternative to the Lemon-Lime Soda if you’d rather. Club Soda can be used, however the drink will be quite bitter.

How to Sugar the rim of your Drinking Glass

This is actually super easy to do! Just take equal parts water and sugar (like 1/4 cup of each) and microwave for 1 minute. Stir and let the liquid cool for a minute or two. Pour it into a shallow dish, and dip the rim of the glass into the liquid and then directly into raw granulated sugar. Allow the sugar to dry onto the cup and carefully pour in the beverage.

Can I make my Holiday Punch ahead of time?

Yes and no. Let me explain. The carbonation will wear out of the drink if mixed together ahead of time. With that said, that may not necessarily be a bad thing! This will keep well in the fridge for up to 1 week. It still tastes great, it just isn’t quite as bubbly.
