Oven Roasted Green Beans
I have recently become a total fan of roasting my veggies in the oven. Roasting broccoli in the oven is absolutely delicious! Basically the only way I will eat broccoli.. either that or dunked in a whole lot of ranch. 😉 Oven roasted potatoes and carrots are also really good!
Roasting green beans in the oven has become such a game changer for me! I don’t know about you, but I like side dishes that can be tossed together with little to no prep and then forgotten about. Oven Roasted Green Beans is definitely one of those side dishes. Besides the fact that they are so easy to make, they are absolutely delicious!!
How to wash and prep green beans for roasting
It is important to wash all fruits and veggies either grown in your own garden or purchased at the store before eating unless they are clearly marked saying that they have been pre-washed and are ready to eat.
Even if you can’t see it, there can be dirt and other.. stuff.. on the produce that need to be washed away. Wash with warm water prior to eating. Wash and then either let air dry or pat dry with a dish towel.
Prep the green beans by snapping off both ends of the bean. You don’t need to snap much off, just the very tips. You can cut them off if you’d rather.
How to season Roasted Green Beans
You can season your green beans however you’d like. You can do the classic salt & pepper or I suggest seasoning with a little garlic powder and grated parmesan cheese. I will give better step by step directions below.
Other fun flavor options:
- Lemon Pepper & Parmesan Cheese
- Sesame & Soy Sauce- toss with a little soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil after roasting.
- Balsamic- drizzle with balsamic dressing after roasting.
How to Roast Green Beans in the Oven
In order for the green beans to not dry out while roasting, they need to be coated in some type of oil. I like to use my olive oil cooking spray to easily apply a very thin layer of oil onto the green beans.
Then season your beans with salt and pepper. Roast in the oven at 400° for 10 minutes. Remove the pan and shake or use a spatula to stir the beans around. Season with some garlic powder and grand parmesan cheese at this point if desired. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, depending on how soft you’d like your finished beans to be.
How can I make my Green Beans Crunchy?
This will require shorter cook time, at a higher temperature. I would suggest generously coating in olive oil and then roasting at 450° for a total of 10 minutes.
