Crack Chicken Bombs are shredded chicken, cream cheese, dry ranch mix and bacon all mixed together and baked inside of a bread bomb! These are a delicious appetizer, snack or meal!
Crack Chicken Bombs- What is Crack Chicken?
In case you haven’t heard, Crack Chicken is all the rage right now! Aaaand I’ll explain it to you right now because once upon a time many years ago when I heard the term ‘Crack Chicken’ for the first time I literally googled ‘What is Crack Chicken’.
On a computer at the University’s library. While looking over my shoulder like I was googling something inappropriate. I don’t know why it has to have such a strange name. I didn’t name it, I just eat it. ?
Crack Chicken: This refers to a chicken dish that involves cream cheese, dry ranch mix, cheese and bacon bits.
There are all sorts of variations out there from Crack Chicken Soup to dips to pasta’s to sandwiches!
And now entering the mix- these bombs. Let me tell you, they are the BOMB DIGITY!
How to Make Crack Chicken Bombs
To make the Crack Chicken filling, you’ll start with shredded chicken. I like to make my chicken in the Instant Pot.
To make the chicken in the Instant Pot I throw 6 or 7 frozen chicken tenders with 1 cup chicken broth into the Instant Pot and cook them on manual HIGH for 6 minutes followed by a 6 minute NPR before releasing the pressure manually.
Alternatively, you could totally use rotisserie chicken!
Shredded chicken, cream cheese, bacon bits, parmesan cheese and dry ranch mix are mixed together. I like to use my hand mixer to do this.
Easy peasy, the filling is done!
Next up, the bread. I like to make my own homemade bread dough (I halved the recipe!)for the Crack Chicken Bombs but Frozen Rhodes Rolls would work great too!
If using Rhodes Rolls, flatten each softened roll, scoop a tbsp or so of filling into the center of the dough and then fold the sides up, sealing the dough around the filling.
If using half of my Homemade Dinner Roll Recipe, divide the finished dough in quarters then cut each piece into 4 more pieces. Flatten each piece, placing 1 or so tbsp of filling into the center before sealing the dough around the filling.
Arrange the unbaked Crack Chicken Bombs on a greased 9×13 pan.
Cover the pan with a dish towel and place on the stovetop while the oven preheats. Preheat the oven to 450°.
Once the oven has come to temperature, bake the Crack Chicken Bombs for 10-14 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush with butter and sprinkle with parsley before serving.
