What makes this the Best French Toast Recipe

Perfectly golden and sweetened to perfection, you are bound to LOVE this french toast recipe. With a few simple tweaks, you can change your french toast from ‘fine’ to absolutely scrumptious!

Guys, there are only a few differences in how I make french toast, but they’re the real deal. Adding vanilla to the egg mixture is the easiest way to absolutely elevate this homestyle, breakfast comfort food. And making it with sourdough bread is just another way to enhance your flavor and make it feel like you’re buying your breakfast from one of those fancy brunch places. I really cannot rave about this easy french toast recipe enough!

When trying to decide how much french toast you’ll need, remember 2 things:

  1. Make more than you think you’ll need because this is going to go quickly.
  2. For every egg you use, you should be able to make about 4 pieces of french toast. So you can do some simple math to figure out how many pieces you want and be able to adjust this recipe accordingly.

  • Sugar – The sugar is just enough to sweeten the egg mixture ever so slightly.
  • Vanilla – The vanilla is what really brings this recipe home and what makes it different from other recipes.
  • BreadMy favorite is sourdough but any kind of bread works well!

Easy French Toast Recipe variations

One of my favorite ways to adjust the flavor of french toast is to switch up my bread! I love to use sourdough, but a texas toast or cinnamon bread also really shines in this recipe!

If you’re a fan of cinnamon, you can toss some into the egg mixture as well! I typically don’t because we aren’t the biggest cinnamon fans in our house.
