Crockpot Ham Recipe

There really is no better way to make your spiral cut ham than in your Crockpot! Yes, I know. This is quite a different tune than I usually sing. I am generally all over the super popular Electric Pressure Cookers (like the Instant Pot and other brands). Currently majority of the savory recipes on my site are written for the Instant Pot.  My Creamy Ziti, Alfredo, and Broccoli Cheese Soup are a few of my popular Instant Pot recipes.

Spiral Cut Ham, however, has a sad sad tale when it comes to the Instant Pot. I tried, you guys. Really. I made ham in my Instant Pot 5 times in a 2 week time period. My family was so. sick. of. ham. as you could probably imagine! After the fifth unsuccessful attempt, I declared that Ham is just not made for the Instant Pot, in my opinion. There were so many problems, tons of variations and I won’t write a mediocre recipe and post.

So, in my newsletter last Sunday (psst. I send out an email every Sunday with links to all of my new posts for the week plus a fun little personal update.. spoiler alert: I own cows! If you want in on this fun weekly email, you can subscribe here.) I told this sad tale of the Instant Pot ham and suggested everyone make their Easter Ham in their crockpots instead.

I received SO many emails back saying ‘Well, can I have your Crockpot Ham recipe then?’. Which, by the way, made me laugh because yes, I have a Crockpot Ham Recipe, but nope, it wasn’t on my site. So this last week, we made Ham for the sixth time so I could take the photos for this post. #yourwelcome 😉

How to make Ham in your Crockpot with homemade Glaze

you’ll want to quickly whisk together your glaze for the ham first thing. The glaze consists of honey, mustard and garlic powder. I just use plain yellow mustard, but you can use dijon if you prefer!

Place the ham into the crockpot and then rub brown sugar into each slice of Ham. Then pour the glaze on top, in between and all over that ham. Don’t be afraid to get a little messy!

Cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 180°. If you are in the market for a new food thermometer, I can’t say enough great things about Thermoworks. I have their MK4 Thermapen and I use it almost daily!

After the ham is heated through, remove the ham and cover with foil to keep warm. Transfer the glaze from the crockpot to a small sauce pan. Bring the glaze to a boil and thicken slightly with a cornstarch and water slurry.

Either pour the glaze over top of the ham or serve the glaze on the side to dip in. We usually do the latter, we like to dip both our ham and Cheesy Potato Casserole into the glaze.. yum!

Yes! 350* for 3-4 hours or until heated through. Cover with foil so it doesn’t dry out! Happy Easter!
