Why I love Baked French Fries

I am what you may call ‘fry obsessed.’ I cannot get enough of these homemade fries that maintain their fluffy interior while absolutely bringing a perfectly crisp exterior. They really truly cannot be beat.

Here are ALL of my tips for making the absolute yummiest baked french fries:

  1. Soak your sliced potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before you bake them. This will help draw the starch out of the potatoes which is #1 in making these CRISPY!!!
  2. Bake your fries in a single layer on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. The parchment will keep your fries from sticking and aid in perfecting the texture.
  3. Trust me on this one: bake your fries at 2 separate temperatures. Start it out at 350° for 30 minutes and then up it to 450°, stirring every 10 minutes until the fries are golden!

Best sauces for Oven Baked French Fries

I am a Ketchup girl, but these fries are great with ranch, honey mustard, or barbeque sauce! Really any sauce you typically love, you can eat with these oven baked fries.

How to store Baked Fries

These oven baked fries are the very best when served fresh. However, if you have leftovers you can store in a ziptop bag or airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. When you’re ready to serve, reheat in the oven for crispiness.

Oven French Fries FAQs

How do you keep french fries crispy in the oven?

The trick to getting oven baked fries to be crispy is soaking them in water for 30 minutes prior to baking and then baking at two different temperatures (as explained above).

Do you have to flip french fries in the oven?

Yes! This will ensure even baking. Additionally, you will want to make sure you continually season your fries as they bake.

Why don’t my fries get crispy in the oven?

There are a lot of reasons why your fries may not get crispy. I recommend soaking your potatoes in cold water prior to baking and increasing the temperature after they’ve cooked for 30 minutes to optimize crispness.

this worked out so well! the only difference is that instead of oil, i tossed them in ‘real’ mustard – but the result was out. standing.

I made these the other night & loved them. I will be making again. Thanks for a great recipe.

  4. I have made this Recipe several times. The parchment paper it a bit awkward when it comes to stirring the fries. I have been making it in a couple of cast iron pans without it sticking (be sure they are well cured). It comes out great!
