Pancake Mix Muffins FAQ

What makes a muffin fluffy?

Baking powder is what makes a muffin fluffy. This leavening agent causes the muffin to rise and maintain that fluffy texture.

Is Muffin Mix the same as pancake mix?

Pancake mix and muffin mix are similar in that they are both mixes that are used to make baked goods, but they are formulated differently and are intended for use in different types of recipes. Muffin mix is generally sweeter and more rich than pancake mix, and it produces a denser, more cake-like finished product.

What else can be made from pancake mix?

Pancake mix can be used to make a variety of different dishes. Although traditional pancakes are the most common use of pancake mix, it can also be used for crepes, waffles, cornbread and pancake bowls.

Can I use pancake mix instead of flour?

No, pancake mix can not be used as a substitute to flour. Pancake mix contains flour, but also contains other ingredients that prevents it from being used as a substitute for all purpose flour. Pancake mix contains flour, leavening agents, salt and sugar.

  1. 5 stars
These are delicious! We made two batches in one week. I followed the recipe exactly and used Trader Joe’s buttermilk pancake mix. Easy enough were my daughter (10) needed minimal supervision (oven) and really enjoyed making them.

  2. Hi Sara- I love hearing that your Daughter makes these practically on her own! What a great mom you are and what and awesome daughter you have! Thank you for taking the time to comment, means the world!

  3. I made these yesterday with my sister, and they tasted amazing. We did use blueberries by the way.

  4. I am so glad you and your sister found my recipe! Happy you enjoyed your muffins. 🙂

  5. Just made these this morning for breakfast & I guess they’re fool proof because I later realized I forgot to add the egg yet they still came out amazing! We only had blueberry pie filling on hand so I rinsed and strained a couple cans to get close to 1.5 cups called for in the recipe. I had great value complete buttermilk pancake/waffle mix (just add water or milk). Besides accidentally leaving out the egg, everything was followed. I didn’t use liners as it was optional, just sprayed my pan with Pam & the edges came out nice and crispy, insides perfectly moist and light. Definitely will make these again!
