You will love this Little Caesars Garlic Bread

Little Caesars Crazy Bread takes me way way back. Once upon a time there was an extremely picky child who’s name started with a ‘K’ and rhymed with barley.. I would ONLY eat the crazy bread! No pizza for this girl, all I wanted was that buttery garlicy goodness! Who can blame me though, really? They are drool worthy!

My over-love for crazy bread was passed down to Chase and now HE won’t eat the pizza. (I really did get a child just like me!) The first time I made these, my official taste tester (Chase) took one bite and exclaimed, ‘These taste just like Little Caesars!’ and then continued to eat half the pan. That right there is proof of their deliciousness!

The worst is when you get handed a bad batch of crazy bread. I know you know what I’m talking about. Dry, with hardly any parmesan cheese! That’s the thing about making them at home.. you control the cheese! Oh, yeah!

What is Crazy Bread?

Crazy Bread is a popular side dish made by Little Caesars Pizza chain. It’s a type of garlic bread that’s topped with garlic butter, parmesan cheese, and herbs. The bread is usually served warm and is often served as a side dish with pizza. The bread gets its name from its delicious and unique flavor, which sets it apart from traditional garlic bread.

If you’re looking for a tasty and easy-to-make side dish to serve with pizza or any other Italian-style dish, crazy bread is a great option. With its delicious flavor and crispy texture, it’s sure to become a family favorite.

Crazy Bread Recipe from Little Caesars

Little Caesar Crazy Bread ingredients

  • Dry Active Yeast
  • Warm water
  • Granulated sugar
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • All purpose flour
  • Butter
  • Garlic powder
  • Grated parmesan cheese (the powdered cheese in the green can)

How to make Little Caesars Crazy Bread

The dough is super simple, and rises in a flash with the help of trusty Instant Pot. These can totally be made without an Instant Pot, they will just take a bit longer. Once the dough has risen, been shaped and cooked the garlic parmesan cheese butter goes on hot! Don’t burn your tongue, you’ll want to try one of these right away!

The dough consists of simple ingredients- water, sugar, yeast, oil, salt and flour. The finished dough will be slightly tacky, but if you pinch a small piece of dough off you should be able to roll it into a ball in your fingers easily.

  1. You will want to rise the final dough until double in size. If rising the dough on the counter, this will take about an hour. If you have an Instant Pot with a yogurt button, you can quick rise the dough on the yogurt NORMAL setting for 20 minutes.
  2. Carefully pour the risen dough out onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Gently with your fingers, pat and shape the dough into a long rectangle. Then use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into breadsticks.
  3. Cover the breadsticks with a dishtowel and let them rest while the oven preheats to 400°. Bake for 15 minutes or until they star to turn brown.
  4. While the breadsticks are baking, melt 1/4 cup butter in the microwave and then stir in 1/2 tsp of garlic powder. Use garlic powder, not garlic salt! Right after the breadsticks come out fo the one, brush all of that buttery goodness all over the breadsticks.
  5. The final step is to sprinkle (liberally 😉) powdered parmesan cheese all over those bad boys! You are going to LOVE these!

Little Caesars Sauce Ingredients for Little Caesars Bread

I like to just use regular marinara sauce from the pasta isle at the grocery store. My favorite brand is Hunt’s (4 cheese), but you can just use your favorite Marinara Sauce!

Dunk repeatedly. 😉

Copycat Little Caesar Crazy Bread

Copy Cat Little Caesars Crazy Bread is light and fluffy with a buttery garlic and parmesan cheese topping. You won’t know the difference!
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Rising Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

Breadsticks

  • 2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
  • 1 1/4 cup very warm water, divided
  • 3/4 tbsp granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Butter Topping

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tbsp grated parmesan cheese, (powdered)

Instructions

  • Combine  the yeast, 1/4 C of warm water, and 1/2 tsp of the sugar to a small bowl. Let the yeast proof. This means to wait until it is bubbly, to show you that the yeast is alive and kicking!
  • While the yeast is proofing, add the remaining breadstick ingredients (remaining water, remaining sugar, oil, salt and flour) to the bowl of a stand mixer.
  •  Once the yeast has proofed, pour it into the stand mixer and begin mixing slowly with the dough attachment. Once all of the flour is combined, knead for 5 minutes. The dough will be sticky, but you should be able to pull off some dough and roll it into a little ball. If it is too sticky for that, add a little extra flour.
  • Spray the liner of your Instant Pot with non stick spray, and transfer the dough from the stand mixer bowl to the Instant Pot liner. Use the yogurt setting on NORMAL. Cover with a glass lid and let proof for 20 minutes.
  • If rising on the counter, rise covered until double. About 1 hour.
  • Turn on the oven to 400°.
  • Carefully pour the risen dough onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Gently with your fingers, press and move the dough into a long rectangle shape.
  • Use a pizza cutter and cut the dough into bread sticks.
  • Allow the breadsticks to rest for about 10 minutes while the oven is finishing up preheating.
  • Bake at 400° for 15 minutes, or until they are just starting to turn brown.
  • While the breadsticks are baking, combine the melted butter and the garlic.
  • As soon as the breadsticks are removed from the oven, brush the garlic butter on liberally.
  • Finally, sprinkle with as much parmesan cheese as your heart desires! Enjoy!

I made this last night and thought it was great. I did a few things slightly different from the instructions: My oven has a bread proofing mode, so I skipped the Instant Pot. I also spread the dough on the parchment and cut it and *then* lifted it onto the cookie sheet rather than trying to cut it on the cookie sheet; it’s much easier to cut with a pizza cutter without the sides of the cookie sheet interfering. I also added some Italian herb blend to the melted butter (or margarine in our case). There are two things I would also do differently next time (and there will definitely be a next time!): (1) I would decrease the bake time by 2-3 minutes. I know my oven’s thermostat is accurate; I had, coincidentally, just tested it that morning. While the bread was just barely turning brown on top when I took it out of the oven at the 14 minute mark, it was quite brown on the bottom. I think a few minutes less would have given a consistency more true to the original. (2) I would add some salt to the topping, either some garlic salt mixed into the melted butter, or maybe a little kosher salt sprinkled across the top. But this dough couldn’t have been easier to make, and the results were really delicious. Thank you!

  2. Thanks for that detailed review, Patricia! I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe and have made notes on how to make it more to your family’s liking. 🙂

  3. I don’t have a stand mixer nor a bread machine. I only have a hand-held mixer. Can I still make this?

These are my new favorite bread stick recipe. I followed the recipe and had no trouble at all. They were super easy to make and so good. I would take these over little caesar any day.

  5. I would stir with a wooden spoon for as long as you can and then knead by hand until the dough is smooth. It should work well!!

Way better than little ceasars! Followed the recipe as is and it is the best!! Everyone loved it! I did it without a mixer and used instant pot to help rise (great idea!). I will definitely keep on making this. Thank you for sharing!

  7. Yay! I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe so much!! Thanks for the comment!
