BBQ Pulled Pork- The recipe EVERYONE needs!

Everyone needs a good Pulled Pork recipe. Isn’t that like a universal truth? Pulled Pork = the best crowd feeding main dish ever!

Because pork is generally a fattier meat, it is usually quite a bit cheaper than beef. Because one can buy a large amount of pork for a decent price, feeding a large crowd with this Pulled Pork won’t break the bank.

In fact, this is what I served after Chase had his baby blessing 5 years ago! We made little sliders with it and everyone LOVED it.

Making Pulled Pork in the Crockpot

To make the Pulled Pork in a Crockpot, you will simply place the pork roast, broth, Coke and seasonings into the Crockpot.

Cook on Low for 8-12 hours or on high for 5-7 hours or until fork tender.

Once the Pork is fork tender, carefully remove the roast and discard the liquid.

Shred the pork and return to the Crockpot. Stir in BBQ sauce, mustard, ketchup and brown sugar.

Cover with the lid and let it cook on low for another 30 minutes.

Making Pulled Pork in the Instant Pot

My preferred method for making Pulled Pork is in my Instant Pot. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. ?

I tossed my 3 lb FROZEN pork roast into the Instant Pot and had falling-apart-tender meat in 2 hours!

I have cooked both frozen and thawed pork roast in the Instant Pot and find that the cook time stays the same.

You’ll just toss the pork roast into the Instant Pot with broth, coke and some seasonings.

Cook on Manual HIGH for 90 minutes and then allow for a 30 min NPR.

Carefully take the roast out of the Instant Pot and then drain the liquid.

Shred the pork and then add the pork, BBQ sauce, mustard, ketchup and brown sugar to the Instant Pot. Turn on Saute  and stir until all of the brown sugar has been dissolved into the sauce.

  1. It is an electric pressure cooker! It cooks things SO much faster. I love love LOVE mine!! I have quite a few posts about the Instant Pot you can find if you search ‘Instant Pot’ on my site. ❤️

  2. 4 stars
I made this last night, following the recipe exactly, and it was very easy and delicious. However, although the pork roast I used was a little more than 3 pounds (3.23), it still seemed that there was far too much sauce for the amount of shredded pork. I plan to cook another 3-pound roast and add the shredded meat to the batch I made, which will effectively cut the meat/sauce ratio in half. If you’re making this for the first time, I would suggest that you add about half the suggested sauce mixture at first, then keep adding if you want more sauce.

  3. I’m glad you thought the recipe was tasty! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and changes, too. ?
