Habits are a very powerful thing, but we hold the power to choose which habits we have! Free Printable below!

At the beginning of they year, like most people, I set some goals for the year. And just like most people, after a few days, I had already failed at most them. I was frustrated, bummed, annoyed.. you get the point. I was not very pleasant. It is so hard to feel like you are stuck. Not getting better or improving on anything. Especially when you are at home all day with little humans who like to run your world. Can I get an Amen?

One day as I was probably scrolling Instagram for the zillionth time, I happened upon a post one of my friends had just posted. She talked about how she had been using this paper tracker to track the tasks she liked to get done in the day. She would mark off when she completed the task and then at the end of the month she would go over her chart and see how she did. She would evaluate where she could improve etc. I loved the idea, and immediately made myself something similar.

The Habit Maker

Some of the habits I put on my chart I was already doing regularly. Things like making my bed every morning, working out, and wearing my retainer at night I was not, BUT I wanted to be. So I wrote them down on my little habit chart. I wanted to see if this could help me feel more accountable, actually do the tasks, and by the end of the month hopefully have made them a habit.

I started this on February 1st, and here we are at the end of the month. Let me tell you, this little chart works, Guys! I don’t even have to think about putting in my retainer at night anymore.. and it no longer hurts like a dickens when I wear it. Don’t tell my orthodontist I had been wearing it once every 3 or so weeks before this. So this next month, I am going to replace my retainer box with something else I’d like to do. I love being able to see the progress!

One category I really did fail in, as you can see, is working out. The one day I did work out this past month, we were shopping at an outdoor shopping center and I walked from one store to another store that was at the opposite end aaaaaand I counted it. I think next month I might try to move my workout squares closer to the top and see if working out before the kids get up helps at all.

Here is a free printable of my Habit Maker so you can try it too! Just right click and open the image in a new tab, then print! I’d love to hear how it works for you! Comment below or tag me on instagram! @cookingwithkarli
