Chocolate Waffles

One of my favorite ways to celebrate anything is with chocolate waffles. They’re easy to make but fancy enough to make any day feel special.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup milk + extra for thinning, if needed
  • 1/2 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the liquid ingredients (milk, vanilla and eggs) while keeping the melted butter separate for now.
  • In a separate, larger bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt and baking powder.
  • Add the liquid ingredients (including the melted butter) into the dry ingredients while whisking. Mix until combined.
  • Add in more milk, as needed, until a thick batter comes together.
  • Cook on your favorite waffle iron, enjoy warm with chocolate sauce, strawberries or other toppings.
