Ingredients

Chocolate Cookies

  • 3/4 cups butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp milk

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt

Other Ingredients

  • 12 fresh strawberries cut in half

Instructions

Chocolate Cookies

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cream together the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar.
  • Add the egg and vanilla. Mix until light in color and creamy.
  • Add in the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt), mix into the dough. When the dry ingredients are about halfway mixed in, add the milk to the dough. Mix until completely combined. The dough will be very soft.
  • Scoop or roll the cookie dough out into equal sized balls. Arrange on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 7-9 minutes or until the cookies are puffy and no longer glossy on top.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely on the pan. While the cookies are cooling, make the cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • Cream the butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
  • Add half of the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
  • Add the remaining powdered sugar, vanilla and salt. Mix thoroughly.

Assembling the Cookies

  • Either spread or pipe the frosting onto the tops of each cookie.
  • Top each frosting with a pre-cut strawberry.
  • Store in the fridge and serve cold.
