Preheat a large griddle to 350°.
Combine the butter and garlic powder.
Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Butter each side of the French bread with the garlic butter.
Lightly spray the griddle with non-stick spray.
Sprinkle the cheese onto the griddle, covering the area where the French bread will be.
Once the cheese has melted, lay the French bread onto the cheese. Buttered side down.
After a couple of minutes, use your hand and push the bread back and forth a bit to 'gather' the excess cheese. The cheese will stick to the bread now as apposed to the griddle.
Let cook for an additional 5 or so minutes, checking every once in a while until the cheese is nice and crispy.
Remove from griddle, slice and serve!
