Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1/4 cup butter room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1-1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese I usually use the Mexican blend

Instructions

  • Preheat a large griddle to 350°.
  • Combine the butter and garlic powder.
  • Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Butter each side of the French bread with the garlic butter.
  • Lightly spray the griddle with non-stick spray.
  • Sprinkle the cheese onto the griddle, covering the area where the French bread will be.
  • Once the cheese has melted, lay the French bread onto the cheese. Buttered side down.
  • After a couple of minutes, use your hand and push the bread back and forth a bit to 'gather' the excess cheese. The cheese will stick to the bread now as apposed to the griddle.
  • Let cook for an additional 5 or so minutes, checking every once in a while until the cheese is nice and crispy.
  • Remove from griddle, slice and serve!
