What’s in Raspberry Syrup

  • Raspberries: You can use either fresh or frozen raspberries for this recipe. This makes it a perfect recipe any time of year!
  • Sugar: We will use granulated sugar for this recipe. The raspberry to sugar ratio is 2:1.
  • Water: The water is used to thin the syrup so it is pourable.

How to Make Raspberry Syrup

To make raspberry syrup, you’ll need a small sauce pan and your stove top. Your raspberries, sugar and about a tbsp of water are added to the sauce pan and cooked over medium heat until the raspberries have broken down and the sugar has dissolved.

The raspberry to sugar ratio is 2:1- meaning you need double the amount of raspberries as you do sugar. For example, 2 cups of raspberries to 1 cup of sugar, or 1 cup of raspberries to 1/2 cup of sugar.

Once the raspberries and sugar have broken down into a thick jam, add water to thin it out a bit. Add 1 tbsp at a time. Lastly, run the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to filter out the seeds, if desired.

Can You Freeze Raspberry Syrup?

This simple raspberry syrup can be frozen. You’ll want to keep it in an airtight container that allows a little room for expansion. Use syrup within a year. To use simply thaw by placing the container inside of the fridge overnight, then use cold or reheat what you’re using so that you can enjoy warm raspberry syrup.
